Vermont Academy Announces New Hire for CFO/COO Role

Vermont Academy is excited to announce the hiring of our next CFO/COO, someone who is no stranger to VA.
Vincent "Butch" Schuck attended Vermont Academy and graduated in 1994. As the fourth of his siblings to graduate from VA, he grew up on the campus and his first job after college was at the school working in residential life.

“Returning to Vermont Academy, where my educational and professional journey began, is both exciting and deeply meaningful,” he says. “I'm eager to approach this role with fresh perspectives, leveraging my cumulative experiences to contribute to the school's ongoing success and vibrant community.”

Butch earned his B.A. in history from Keene State College, and his MBA from the University of New Hampshire.

He has a robust resume, having served in the Marine Corps, held a role as COO of an insurance company, and is now stepping down from his job as head of school at Holy Trinity School in Laconia, NH.

“I am most excited about collaborating with the talented people I met during the interview process,” details Butch. “My goal is to build on the existing strategic plan and discover new opportunities that will ensure the school fulfills its mission and allows every member of the VA community to thrive.”

Current CFO/COO Matt Emsley will be helping guide Butch through the transition and we are grateful for both his service to the school and his willingness to assist his replacement in getting settled in the Vermont Academy community.

“Upon my return to campus, one of the first activities will be for my wife Stephanie, our son Andrew, and me, to take our Vizsla, Brick, for a run to explore the arboretum and the trails around campus. This will be a wonderful way for us to reintegrate into the VA community and its surroundings.”

Butch will join us officially in July of this year.

Welcome, Butch!

Thank you to Zack Lehman at DovetailEd for leading the search for this role.
