The Vermont Academy Alumni Association (VAAA), comprised of every matriculated student whose class has graduated, numbers over 4,000 members spanning 9 decades. Each member is a valued part of the alumni community and together, we are VA.
The purpose of the VAAA is to strengthen and support Vermont Academy through the cultivation of an engaged, informed, and inspired alumni community.
In pursuit of this purpose, the VAAA:
Brings alumni together to advance the interests and welfare of the school;
Fosters strong bonds among alumni and between alumni and Vermont Academy;
Promotes alumni involvement in the life of the school including alumni programs and activities, annual giving, and general support of VA; and
Communicates regularly with members and share positive Academy news.
There are so many ways to get involved with your alma mater. Whether you attend events, volunteer, support alumni-owned businesses, shop at the school store, dive into VA news, or want to nominate a peer for special recognition, there’s so much to explore.
There are two social media groups that focus specifically on Vermont Academy alumni. Join The Vermont Academy Network on LinkedIn to share job postings, connect with alumni peers in your field, reach out to alumni in fields of interest, and so much more!
Alumni are also invited to join Vermont Academy Alumni on Facebook. Learn about upcoming alumni gatherings, read about exciting things that alumni are doing, and more!
Did you recently move, change phone numbers, update your email address, start a new job, welcome a new family addition, begin a new graduate school program, get married, or undertake any number of additional life changes?

Liz Olmsted
Associate Director of Advancement, Operations and Stewardship
Liz joined the Vermont Academy community in 2011 when her daughter, Wyeth, enrolled as a freshman day student. As a VA parent, Liz has seen firsthand the transformational impact that VA has had on her daughter and her peers. To the title of proud VA parent, Liz has worn many hats as a member of the Advancement Office and is currently the Associate Director of Advancement for Operations and Stewardship.
A 25-year veteran of Eastern Mountain Sports, an outdoor specialty retailer formerly headquartered in Peterborough, NH, Liz held a variety of positions as she worked her way up through the organization. From positions in sales, customer service, and store management to ones tied to brand identity and strategic planning, it was a varied and fulfilling career.
Over the years, Liz has been involved with independent schools as a volunteer on a myriad of levels. Prior to her time at Vermont Academy, Liz played an active volunteer role at The Grammar School in Putney, VT, where she served as Trustee Chair for five years, participating in fundraising and serving on the Strategic Planning and Head-of-School Search Committees.
When not on the road connecting with our broader VA community, Liz can often be seen around campus with her camera—blending her love of photography with her enjoyment of cheering for our VA Wildcats. Along with photography, Liz’s other interests include a variety of outdoor pursuits that she enjoys with her family including skiing, hiking, and kayaking/canoeing.
Liz lives in Westmoreland, NH, with her husband, Ned, a recently retired Assistant Professor of English at Landmark College.
