MC Coldwell ’24 Commits to Lesley University for Basketball

Congratulations to talented Vermont Academy basketball player Cecilia “MC” Coldwell ’24, for signing her National Letter of Intent to play Division III Women’s Basketball at Lesley University (MA) next fall. During her time at VA, MC has left an impact as a valued athlete and student.
MC is currently playing in her third season on VA’s Girls’ Varsity Basketball team. A force to be reckoned with, MC has been a starter in all three seasons, playing both as a forward and a guard, has been a team captain for her last two seasons, received the Greatest Contribution Award last season, and a Coaches Award for this season. MC credits her successes in part to her support system. “The support from all my friends, teachers, and coaches helped me get to where I am and I am very thankful,” she said. “I am so happy we have had a very strong season so far.”

MC’s stats are impressive. This season, in 14 games, she has made 42 rebounds, 23 steals, 5 free throws, 5 two-point field goals, 5 three-point field goals, and 30 total points, averaging out to 2.1 PPG (points per game). "I am thrilled that MC is going on to play basketball at the collegiate level,” says VA’s Girls’ Varsity Basketball Coach Sean Allen. “She is joining a growing program where she will get to help establish a positive hard-working culture, just as she did for ours. Lesley is fortunate to have her.”

Lesley University’s Interim Women’s Basketball Head Coach Martin Rather has great things to say about Lesley University philosophies and the l team culture. “I believe that the highest positive impact can be made through coaching at an academically excellent institution filled with dedicated student-athletes eager to change the world,” he told LesleyAthletics.com “This is Lesley. The University has an illustrious history of empowering its students with the tools to create a more just, humane, and sustainable society. My coaching staff and I will dedicate ourselves to creating a culture where our players dare to be great.”

MC’s enthusiasm for her next chapter is palpable as well. “I am most excited to develop my skills even further and to continue athletics in college,” she shared.

An empowered and dedicated student-athlete herself, we look forward to seeing MC “dare to be great” at Lesley, both academically and athletically as she enters this next chapter.
