Three Goals in the Third Lifts VA Over Tilton

On Wednesday, February 12 the Wildcats traveled to Tilton, New Hampshire to take on the Tilton School Rams in a Lakes Region matchup. Puck drop was slated for 3 p.m.

Both teams came out strong with back and forth play. The Rams were able to generate more offense, however, Segui ’21 stood tall in net saving all eight shots in the first period. In the second period, the Wildcats were slightly sluggish and the Rams capitalized part way through the period. Once the Rams scored Vermont woke up and went to work creating more scoring opportunities, though they were not able to capitalize until the third period.

Heading into the third period down 0-1 the Wildcats knew they needed to go to work and that is what they did scoring three unanswered goals to top Tilton. Creamer ’21 opened up the scoring tipping a Wood ’20 shot to tie the game at one. Kaltounkova ’20 added the final two goals of the game one with about five minutes to go from Walsh ’22. For the third goal, Kaltounkova ’20 won a defensive zone faceoff wheeled around net gained speed did a give and go with Creamer ’21 on the defensive blue line and then skated through three Tilton players and sniped top corner with 1:30 to go in the game. Segui ’21 finished the game with 26 saves in net for her eighth win of the season.

The Wildcats are back in action for a pair of home games this weekend during Winter Carnival, on Friday, February 14 they face off with Northwood School (Lake Placid, NY) at 2:45 p.m. and on Saturday, February 15 they take on the Hill School (Pottstown, PA) at 6 p.m.
