SPS Sprints - always fun, always unpredictable!

This year, due to low snow SPS Sprints were held at Proctor Academy, on their man made snow loop
Sprints are historically a strong part of VA nordic team. This year was no different from that perspective. All our skiers made it through the qualification rounds and skied in semi and final heats. If it would not be unpredictable, it would not be sprint races. For our most experienced skier - Alex Paluszek the some sort unfortunate part of it struck her in the semifinal race, when she could not hold her balance and fell on the last turn of the race, which ultimately pushed her to the Final B ( racing for the places from 7 to 14th). Nevertheless, it was a good day for Alex and she finished the day in 8th position - the highest so far in the season.
On the boys race we had some successes and some falls ( again, on the last turn of the icy course...) Jason Wang had his first win of his semifinal race and ended up the day in 40th place - the highest place so far this season. Trevor Palmiotto, after good day of racing last weekend at the VT EHSC qualifier, had another solid day, finishing in Final B race and for the day in 13th place. Patrick Wu finished a day in 24th place, Huxley Holcombe in 30th, Jerry Lin in 42nd and Peter Zhao in 63rd place. This placed us as a team in a solid 6th place, ahead of some powerhouses like Holderness.
Next week - our home race, which most likely will take place at Dublin School, again, due to insufficient amount of natural snow to set course on campus.
