Big 6-1 Win Over Winchendon

Vermont traveled to Winchendon School for a 1 p.m. matchup on Saturday afternoon. Segui ’21 made the start in net for the Wildcats.

Both teams came out strong in the first playing a quick back and forth game. Kaltounkova ’20 was able to capitalize first on a feed from Brooks ’23 and Bazin ’22. Winchendon quickly responded to make it a tied game. However, late in the period, Walsh ’22 scored bar down off the faceoff. D. McCarthy ’22 had the assist.

Segui ’21 and the Wildcats were able to shutdown the Winchendon offense the rest of the game and went to work on offense. In the second period, the Wildcats added three goals to their 2-1 lead. Second-period scoring:

Kaltounkova ’20, unassisted
Small ’23, from Kaltounkova ’20 and Walsh ’22
Fortier ’21 from Kaltounkova ’20 and Walsh ’22

Kaltounkova ’20 recorded her 200th career point on the assist on Small’s goal. In the third period, Kaltounkova ’20 added another goal from Rogers ’20. Segui ’21 made 31 saves in net for her sixth win of the season.

Kaltounkova ’20 currently sits at second behind Chloe Aurard ’18 for all-time points at Vermont Academy. In our remaining games, she will look to break the current 219 point record. Vermont is back in action on Wednesday, February 5th as Proctor travels to Saxtons River for a 2 p.m. Lakes Region matchup.
