VA Comes Out on Top of 12 Goal Game

Vermont traveled to Holderness School on Friday, January 10th for a 4:30 p.m. Lakes Region matchup. Segui ’21 earned the start in net for the Wildcats. 

The first period was filled with high energy and five goals. The Bulls scored first, however, the Wildcats responded less than a minute later with a goal from Kaltounkova ’20 and an assist by Bazin ’22. Vermont was able to add another two goals around the eight-minute mark of the period. The first was scored by D. McCarthy ’22 with an assist from Wood ’20. Kaltounkova ’20 added her second of the game with a feed from Walsh ’22. Holderness was able to add another late in the period to keep it a 3-2 game heading into the break. 

In the second period, both teams scored two goals to make the score 5-4 going into the third. Wildcat goals were scored by Brooks ’23 and Spring ’22 assisted by Spring ’22 and Kaltounkova ’20. The Wildcats took off in the third period scoring three more goals and controlling most of the play. Kaltounkova ’20 scored a power-play goal to open the period off of a feed from Sujishi ’22. She added another less than a minute later from Creamer ’21. Spring ’22 topped off the scoring for the Wildcats with six minutes left in the game. D. McCarthy ’22 had the assist. 

Segui ’21 finished the night with 26 saves on 30 Holderness shots earning her third win of the season. The Wildcats are back in action on Saturday, January 18th when they travel to the Pingree School in South Hamilton, Massachusetts for a 2:40 p.m. game.
