Ms. Cynthia Murphy to Present at the NAFSA Region IX Conference

On October 30th International Students Coordinator, Ms. Cynthia Murphy will be presenting a workshop at the NAFSA (National Association of Foreign Student Advisors) Region XI conference in Worcester, Massachusetts. 
The title of her workshop is “Keeping It Real: Authentic Conversations Using International Experiences”

Ms. Cynthia Murphy has been working with international students for over 30 years as a teacher, international student coordinator, DSO, and teacher trainer.  She has run teacher training workshops in China, South Korea, and Japan, and recently returned from two years teaching students and teachers in an all Azeri school in Azerbaijan. Ms. Cynthia Murphy has explored 56 countries around the globe and recently spent a month in Central Asia: the UAE, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan.

“Keeping It Real: Authentic Conversations Using International Experiences” Abstract:

We will focus on how to use your own and your students' international experiences to initiate authentic conversations focusing on negotiating cultural mores, being traveler savvy, handling cultural and environmental shock, taking healthy risks, and seeing the world through multiple lenses.
