Meet our Student Body Co-Presidents

Vermont Academy spoke with Evan ’20 and Taylor ’20, this year's student body co-presidents, about their backgrounds and their goals for this school year.
Where are you from?

Taylor: I am from Keene, New Hampshire.

Evan: I’m from Sacramento, California

Why did you choose VA?

Taylor:  I chose VA because of the close community and the opportunities it would provide me with to pursue my passions.

Evan: I chose VA because of the tight sense of community and the emphasis on wilderness activities.

What are you passionate about?

Taylor: I am passionate about telemark skiing and rock climbing, as well as living an adventurous life.

Evan: I am passionate about the environment. One of my dreams in life is to sail all across the world and experience new and exciting things

What class at VA has challenged you most and why?

Taylor: The class at VA which has challenged me the most was Honors Physics. It Included tricky mathematics and difficult to grasp concepts, I had to work very hard to succeed in that class.

Evan: Calculus BC has challenged me the most. It contained some of the most complex topics I've learned in high school and I had to work hard to keep up with the class. Shoutout to Mr. Mayhew

How do you plan on serving the community this year as student body co-presidents?

Taylor: As co-president, I want to help my community by making VA an even closer and supportive community. In my opinion, this is what separates VA from other schools and communities, and it is what makes VA great.

Evan: We really want to tap into the school spirit and hopefully, offer exciting activities and experiences on and off-campus.

What is your favorite tradition at VA?

Taylor: My favorite VA tradition is the big air competition at Winter Carnival, it is the one time a year where snowboarders and skiers can show their skills to the community.

Evan: My favorite VA tradition is hosting one of the concerts, so I can use the captive audience to test out some new dad jokes.

What do you want the class of 2020 to be remembered for?

Taylor: I want the class of 2020 to be remembered for being an inclusive and kind group.

Evan: I want the class of 2020 to be remembered as being pretty alright.
