Service Day 2019

This year our school theme is service. During the first days on campus, advisory groups split up and worked on various service projects around campus and in the local Saxtons River community.
These projects included work at Main Street Arts, the Saxtons River Market, river cleanup and more.

Ms. Cynthia Murphy’s 11th-grade advisory took photos around campus and recorded why they were important to them.

  1. This is my first view of campus each morning as I walk to school.  It helps me focus on the day ahead and reminds me of why I am happy that I chose to work here. - Ms. Cynthia Murphy (Faculty since 1987)
  2. My advisory group enjoying being together.  Friendships are a key part of our community. - Ms. Cynthia Murphy (Faculty since 1987)
  3. The dining hall isn't only where we eat, we spend so much time here together. I have a hundred stories I could tell you. When I think of VA one of my first thoughts is always the dining hall because of all the laughs and stories I share with friends, who I will have forever. Izabella '21
  4. This was one of the first things that I saw when I entered the campus to start the year as a boarder and it really spoke to me about how soon I am going to be connected to this place and these people. Skye '21
  5. When I first arrived to my dorm, 25 House, I was so excited to live in a small community. Being here for only a couple of days, I have already connected with everyone living there and they feel like my family. Kelly M. '21
  6. This photo reminds me of the beauty of my passion for hockey as well as my enjoyment in playing the game. Anais  '21
  7. It's not just a court, it's where dreams become reality. Hillary  '21
  8. During my first couple of days last year, my teammates brought me up here to show me the view of our campus while the sun set. This year I get to be the one taking new kids up here to show them the beauty of VA and Vermont. Izabella '21
