VA Battles By NYA

Vermont Academy traveled down I-91 to Ingalls Arena at Yale University for their opening game of the first annual Prep Meets Club Holiday Tournament. In their first game of the weekend, they faced off against North Yarmouth Academy (NYA). Jacobelli ’19 earned the start in net for the 3:15 puck drop.

The first period was a battle as both teams headed to the locker room locked in at 0-0, Jacobelli ’19 made some big saves in net. In the second period, the Wildcats jumped ahead with a goal from Walsh ’22 assisted by Creamer ’21 and Powers ’22. However, NYA was not letting their foot off the gas, they continued to battle hard. VA was able to add another goal early in the third period to secure the 2-0 win. Creamer ’21 shot the puck off the post, Citera ’21 drove to the net and got the rebound for her second on the season. Bazin was credited with the second assist.

Jacobelli '19 finished the night with a 21 shot shutout, her second of the season. The Wildcats regroup tonight and prepare for game two against Ironbound U16 tomorrow at 12:15 at Ingalls Arena. VA will close out the year with a pair of games on Sunday at Wesleyan University.
