Holderness, game #2

On Saturday December 8th your Vermont Academy Boys Varsity Hockey team traveled to Plymouth, New Hampshire to compete against Holderness School in the final game of the two game series
After the first game of the series ended in a 1-1 tie, both teams were looking to end the scoring drought. This game ended in a 5-4 victory for Holderness school although the box score does not tell the full story.
 
Tim Manning from Holderness school, the player who tied the game up for Holderness late in the game in the first contest continued where he left off and opened the scoring for both teams in the first period. Vermont Academy would answer 2 minutes later with a goal from #15 Nick Rashkovksy coming off an assist from #19 John Peloso.
 
The second period would start with an opening goal from #9 Kevin Urquhart coming off assists from #8 John Kondub and #19 John Peloso. Holderness would take 2 penalties following the opening goal giving Vermont Academy a golden chance to cash in on the 5 on 3 powerplay. VA would go scoreless on the 5 on 3 powerplay and go on to give up 4 unanswered goals in the period, leaving the score at 5-2 with one period remaining.
 
The Wildcats could have easily thrown in the towel being down 5-2 with 18 minutes left of gameplay. Yet again, they exhibited resiliency as they would go on to score two goals in the period coming from Senior #5 Jonne Ijas off an assist from #15 Nick Rashkovksy on the teams second 5 on 3 of the contest. The team would notch their second special teams goal of the period with a goal from #9 Kevin Urquhart on a 5 on 4 situation to make the game 5-4. Vermont Academy would have two more golden opportunies to tie the game as Holderness would take 2 more critical penalties late down the stretch. The last 4 minutes of the game Vermont Academy would be on the better side of a 5 on 4 situation and was unable to convert. Holderness would take 9 total penalties in this contest allowing Vermont Academy powerplays at several different points during the game. The game would end in a 5 - 4 win for Holderness to end the two game series. The Wildcats look to earn there first win against Proctor Academy Monday December 10th on the road.
