Team Effort Tops Albany

The Wildcats suited up for a 5:30 pm matchup with Albany Academy at the Chouk. Sarah Jacobelli ‘19 earned the start between the pipes, her fifteenth of the season. The last time the two teams met back in December Vermont won 8-1.

The scoring opened early in the first period. Just two minutes into the game Jaz Creamer ‘21 tipped in Chloe Aurard’s ‘18 shot on the power play. Lotti Odnoga ‘18 was credited with the second assist. Vermont scored again eight minutes later from Kristyna Kaltounkova ‘20, assisted by Creamer and Aurard.

In the second period, the Wildcats exploded scoring four goals. The first came from Creamer and was assisted by Aurard and Kaltounkova. Eight minutes later Aurard struck, with assists from Holly Meredith ‘18 and Klara Jandusikova ‘20. Aurard added another two minutes later assists coming from Kaltounkova and Meredith on the penalty kill. Kaltounkova would finish off the scoring for the period with assists from Aurard and Creamer.

The third period Albany continued to battle creating a couple scoring opportunities, however, Jacobelli stood tall. Sophie Streed ‘19 would top of the scoring for the Wildcats by skating off the half wall and beating the goalie under her glove. Jacobelli finished the game with 13 saves for her fifth shutout of the season. Kaltounkova, Creamer, and Aurard connected for three of Vermont's seven goals. 

Vermont travels down I-91 on Saturday, February 3rd to face off against Div. I #9 Northfield Mount Hermon (NMH). Puck drop is slated for 5:00 pm.
