Wildcats Beat by Wapiti

The Wildcats traveled down to Winchendon School for a 1:00 pm faceoff with the Wapiti. The last time Vermont and Winchendon met the Wildcats came out on top 4-1, today they were not able to finish the sweep. Vermont fell 5-2.

Sarah Jacobelli ‘19 earned the start between the pipes this afternoon, her fourteenth of the season. The Wapiti were able to capitalize twice in the first period, the second coming with less than two minutes left. Vermont would respond at the beginning of the second to cut their lead in half. Lotti Odnoga ‘18 scored off of a feed from Syd Royce ‘18 and Chloe Aurard ‘18. However, this would not be enough as Winchendon capitalized on one of their opportunities. The third period was similar, Winchendon scored two more times to bring their total to five. Vermont kept battling but was never able to generate any scoring opportunities until the last two minutes of the game when Maddie Paydos ‘18 pulled the puck out of a scrum in front of the net and put it up top.

Jacobelli finished the afternoon with 31 saves. The Wildcats will get back to work this week in order to prepare for their Wednesday, January 31st match up with Proctor at home. The last time the teams met in December the Wildcats topped the Hornets 2-1 in overtime. Puck drop is slated for 3:00 pm.
