Wildcats Explode to Down the Lumberjacks

The Wildcats traveled to Phillips Exeter Academy for a neutral site matchup against Hebron Academy at 5:00 pm. Sarah Jacobelli ‘19 earned the start in net, her thirteenth of the season.

The first period started out slow, but once Vermont got rid of their bus legs they went to work. Northeastern commit, Chloe Aurard ‘18 opened the scoring for VA, from Dartmouth commit Lotti Odnoga ‘18. Towards the end of the period, Odnoga skated end to end and put a backhand shot over the goalie's shoulder. The Wildcats led the Lumberjacks 2-0 after one.

The Wildcats opened the scoring in the second with an Odnoga goal from Aurard. They would connect again halfway through the period for a short-handed goal. Aurard won the defensive zone faceoff back to Odnoga who flipped her the puck into the neutral zone, and Aurard would go down deke the goalie for her second of the game. In the last minute of the period, Kristyna Kaltounkova ‘20 found the back of the net. Holly Meredith ‘18 was credited with the assist.

In the third period, the Wildcats continued to roll, exploding for four goals. Aurard scored the first, halfway through the period from Kaltounkova and Odnoga on the power play. Two minutes later Aurard put in another shorthanded goal, in a similar fashion to the first shorthanded goal of the game. Two minutes after that Kaltounkova put in her second of the game. Maggie Hodgson ‘21 and Caroline Keller ‘20 assisted on the goal. In the last minute, Meredith would finish out the scoring for the Wildcats to continue her goal streak to two games, Jordan Loya ‘20 with the assist.
