Vermont Explodes in the Third

The Wildcats traveled to South Hamilton, MA for a 6:00 pm matchup against Pingree. Sarah Jacobelli ’19 started in net for Vermont, her tenth of the season.

Both teams came out strong in the first, battling all over the ice. VA was able to strike first. Jaz Creamer ’21 scored off of a Chloe Aurard ’18 feed. Two minutes later Pingree responded. Aurard responded shortly after, unassisted.
The second period was filled with end to end play with both goalies keeping their teams in the game. Creamer and Aurard connected again four minutes into the period to put VA up 3-1.

The third period VA picked up momentum and exploded with six goals. The first came just two minutes into the period when Lotti Odnoga ’18 beat the goalie high from Aurard. Two minutes later Aurard scored again, unassisted. Towards the end of the period, Sophie Streed ’19 picked up a pass from Syd Royce ’18 skated down the right side of the ice and beat the goalie glove side. Two minutes later Aurard completed the hat trick off of a feed from Odnoga. Two minutes later they connected again with an Odnoga goal. Aurard was not finished she topped it off with her four of the game, by beating a Pingree defenseman and tucking it between the post and the goalie's pad.

Aurard finished the night with four goals and four assists, her most productive game this season. Creamer scored her fourth goal in three games, and Jacobelli finished with 16 saves. Vermont hits the road again tomorrow for Millbrook School. Puck drop is slated for 5:00 pm.
