VA Suffers One-Goal Loss in League Opener

Vermont Academy suffered its first loss in Lakes Region play on Saturday.
Vermont Academy suffered its first loss in Lakes Region play on Saturday. New Hampton edged out the Wildcats with a score of 3-2. VA opened the scoring early in the 4th minute thanks to a clinical finish by John Peloso. New Hampton found their equalizer in the 16th minute from the penalty spot. The Wildcats showed great resilience to regain the lead in the 25th minute. Connor Morton was able to get in behind the New Hampton defense to score his first of the season. The roller coaster ride continued as New Hampton then scored the equalizer and the eventual game winner against the run of play in the 29th and 35th minute.

The Wildcats dictated play in the second half, but could not find their equalizer. Despite dominating possession, VA was unable the break through the organized New Hampton defense. Vermont Academy looks to respond in their next Lakes Region match at home against Tilton School on Wednesday, September 30th at 3:00pm.
