First race of the season!

First race of the 2015 season went well for the Vermont Academy x-c running team.
First race of the 2015 season went well for the Vermont Academy x-c running team. Competing at Holderness against most of Lakes Region teams, our athletes demonstrated that early season training went well. Most of VA runners used this race as a testing race to check their preparedness for the race season as well as checking their ability to pace themselves in a face to face competition against highly competitive field of runners.
With over 100 runners in the boys competition, Liam Fleming’16 came in second place with really good race time of 18.47 Mufan Xi’16, still recovering from a recent injury of his ankle came in 19th with the time of 22.49 Chris Lehman’16 came in 27th with the time of 23.48 Mike Belliveau’17 53rd – 25.48, Nate Parent’16 58th place with the time of 26.15, Ronan Khalsa’16 75th with the time of 28.22 Andrew Kalpakian’17 in 83rd place with the time of 30.14 and James Kim’19 in 95th place with the time of 33.52 In a team competition, with 10 schools competing, Holderness boys team won, with KUA second, Cardigan third and our VA team came in fourth place.

On a girl’s race with about 60 runners racing the course, both our runners – Esabel Tuggle ’16 and Dariel Echanis’18 had really good races, coming in 12th and 17th places respectively.

Overall it was a great day of racing!
