Vermont Academy scored 5 goals yesterday to defeat Gould Academy and earn their first win of the season. Oliver Annson opened the scoring for VA in the 17' minute. The Wildcats patiently worked the ball up the field before Leyeyo Kipamba played Annson in behind. VA got their second of the game off a corner kick in the 36' minute. Lucas Calvo Fernandez sent in the cross to find a high rising Ethan Wing at the back post. VA continued to push forward for the remainder of the half. Kipamba was able to score the third of the game just before halftime off a long throw from Evan Ray.
VA started the second half much the same. Annson scored his second of the game in the 50' minute. Jeremy Nadeau-Fortin controlled possession for the Wildcats before finding Annson in behind the Gould defense. The Wildcats patiently possessed the ball for much of the second half. VA scored again in the 84' minute. Annson completed his hat trick from the penalty spot. The Wildcats finished the game with a convincing 5-0 scoreline. Robbie Ferguson earned his first clean sheet of the year. Vermont Academy's next match is away this Friday, September 25th at NMH at 4:45pm.
