Snowboarding Wildcats open the 19-20 season at Gunstock Mountain

John Kelly
The boys and girls snowboard teams travelled to New Hampshire for our first Lakes Region giant slalom race of the year. Although 8 of our 10 riders had never entered a snowboard race they all rose to the occasion, and rode in a commendable fashion.

Our top finisher in the girls race was Lilly Shlosser in 9th followed by Lauren Gall in 10th. Caroline Plyer rode well in her first ever race but fell in the first run and was unable to complete the course. She came back for a second run and put down a good time.
The boys race had a 45 rider field. Our top finisher was Logan McAllister in 4th followed by a Wildcat speedsuit clad Hugo Nijeboer in 10th. Next was freestyle specialist Samson Orlinsky in 14th, 18th, Maurice Day, 25th Emiliano Suarez, in 26th another Wildcat speed suit donner, Jacob Copeland, and in 31st Aaron Brown, battling an ankle injury. Thanks to Coach Burch for his inspirational pre race speech.

The boys team finished 2nd of 7 schools at the event and our girls were 5th.

Next week we travel to Northern New Hampshire for our first freestyle event at Cannon Mt in scenic Franconia Notch. Come out and witness the action.
