Vermont Falls To Brewster On Winter Carnival Weekend
Vermont Academy boys' hockey team played host to Brewster Academy on their Winter Carnival weekend at Choukas Arena this evening.
Brewster would find the back of the net first at the 15:49 mark of the first period when Sam Peffer beat Vermont's Josh Bolding '16 (Calgary, Alberta) on the back door.Vermont would bounce right back scoring off the stick of Houston Wilson '16 (Philadelphia, PA).Wilson would grab a rebound in front of the net from Mike Belliveau '17 (Madison, CT) and make a nifty toe drag move around the Brewster defenseman to beat their goaltender five hole. The teams would finish the period tied at one.
Brewster would be only team to score in the second period. They would take the lead at the 4:49 mark of the period when Joe Rotondi beat Bolding on a quick snap shot.Brewster would take their 2-1 lead in to the intermission.
Brewster would increase their lead to 3-1 just two minutes in to the third period when Saku Leppanen beat Bolding five hole.Vermont would not sit back and would score 72 second later when Jeremy Nadeau-Fortin '16 (Granby, Quebec) would beat Brewster's goaltender, Jordan White, on a long shot from just inside the blue line.Unfortunately, this would be as close as Vermont would get to Brewster with the final score being a 3-2 victory for Brewster.
Brewster would hold the shots on goal edge as well 44-33.
Vermont (8-21-4 overall, 0-10-1 Lakes Region) will play its final Lakes Region game this coming Wednesday, February 24, when they travel to Tilton School for a 3:00 pm matchup.
