Vermont Suffers OT Loss At Millbrook

Vermont Academy boys' hockey team finished their southern NEPSAC road trip with a game at the Millbrook School early Saturday afternoon for a 2:00 pm puck drop.
After trading goals in the first two periods and a scoreless third Millbrook's Simon Boisvert would end the game in overtime by slamming home a pas in front of the net.

Vermont would start the scoring off on the power play in the first period.  Mike Belliveau '17 (Madison, CT) tipped home a point shot from Jake Meikle '18 (Toronto, Ontario) past MillbooK's goaltender, Cole Hayward.  Giving Belliveau his first goal of his VA career.  Millbrook would tie the game up six minutes later when Gideon Cooper beat Josh Bolding '16 (Calgary, Alberta) on a deke.

The second period would be back and forth but Vermont would start the scoring again when Jeremy Nadeau-Fortin '16 (Granby, Quebec) sniped a backhand shot inside the far post off of a pass From Houston Wilson '16 (Philadelphia, PA).  Vermont's one goal lead would not last long as Millbrook's David Waterman would tie the game just three minutes later.  The period would end 2-2.

With both teams competing hard and getting their chances the goaltenders stood on their heads keeping the third period scoreless to force overtime.  In overtime Vermont would get two quick chances but Hayward stood tall.  Millbrook would take of a two on one just 53 seconds in to overtime which found Boisvert all alone in front to finish the wildcats off.

Millbrook would outshoot Vermont 40-25 with Hayward.

Vermont (8-15-2 overall, 0-7-1 Lakes Region) will look to get back to their wining ways on Wednesday, February 3 at home against Rice Prep at 6:00 pm.
