Gunnery Holds Vermont Scoreless

Vermont Academy boys' hockey team traveled to Washington, CT to play The Gunnery Friday evening in non-conference action.
The Gunnery's Trevin Kozlowski stole the show as he help Vermont scoreless on the way to a 4-0 victory.

Vermont started out slow after a long bus ride but with the help from their goaltender, Josh Bolding '16 (Calgary, Alberta), stayed in the game.  Each team had chances to get on the scoreboard first but The Gunnery broke the scoreless trend with four minutes left in the first period when Gustaf Westlund beat two Wildcats defenders and beat Bolding over his glove.  The gunnery would take the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

The second period would be more of the same with both team battling for scoring chances but the only successful team would be the Highlanders.  Zach Pellegrino and Chad Varney would find a way to beat Bolding.  The Gunnery would lead Vermont 3-0 at the second intermission.

Vermont would take the chances scoreboard in the third period but could not solve Kozlowski.  The Gunnery would add one more goal with 1:00 minute left in the game when Cameron Donaldson added an insurance goal to finish off Vermont for the win.

The Gunnery would outshoot Vermont 40-20 but chances would end up being even.

Vermont (8-14-2 overall, 0-7-1 Lakes Region) will continue on the road this weekend at Millbrook Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm.
