Vermont Takes It On The Chin At New Hampton

Vermont Academy boys' hockey team traveled to New Hampton today for a Lakes Region match up.
The teams faced off at 4:00 pm for the last time in New Hampton's old nostalgic arena since construction for the new arena has started and will be completed for the 2016-17 season.

New Hampton would start the scoring and in bunches in the first period.  Just 12 seconds in the game Jakov Novak scored on a breakaway beating Josh Bolding '16 (Calgary, Alberta) high to his glove side.  Two minutes later Lukas Uhler would increase their lead to 2-0.  The five minutes after that Josh Pope-Ferguson found a way to get one past Bolding.  New Hampton scored all three of their goals in the first eight minutes of the game and then Bolding would close the door on the Huskies for the rest of the night.

Vermont would find their own way on the board before the end of the period to close the gap on New Hampton with 40 seconds to go in the first period.  Jeremy Nadeau-Fortin '16 (Granby, Quebec) would start the play at the point and slide the puck down to the half wall to Houston Wilson '16 (Philadelphia, PA).  Wilson would then drag the puck across the top of the circles and fire a wrist shot on net that found the back on the net off the stick of John Kondub '19 (Monroe, CT).  The period would finish with New Hampton leading 3-1 and this would be the final score.

Both teams were held scoreless for the rest of the game.  Vermont taking the lead on scoring chances, so much so it force New Hampton to change goaltenders from Jacob Burhans to Thomas McLarnon.

Vermont would out shoot New Hampton 36 - 24 but Burhans would take credit for the New Hampton victory.

Vermont (7-13-2 overall, 0-7-1 Lakes Region) will try to regain their winning ways Saturday at home against Portsmouth Abbey School at 5:00 pm in the friendly confines of Choukas Arena.
