Wilson Scores 100th Point IN A Battle With Holderness

Holderness would find the back of the net first at the 8:24 mark when Tyler Slusarczyk passed the puck across the crease in front of Vermont's goaltender, Josh Bolding '16 (Calgary, Alberta), but the puck deflected off one of Vermont's defensemen and in the net.
Vermont would tie the game up on Jeremy Nadeau-Fortin '16 (Granby, Quebec) one-timer from the slot to the bottom right corner past Holderness's Logan Bateman.Nathan Smith '17 (Wildwood, MO) would grab the puck off the offensive zone face off and fire it at the net, Wilson would pick up his rebound and split the Holderness defense with a pass to Nadeau-Fortin and he took care of business.The first period would finish in a tie at one.
Wilson would strike early in the second period to give the Wildcats their first lead of the game.Smith would pick up a loose puck in the neutral zone and head man the puck to Nadeau-Fortin who would drive wide and find a streaking Wilson on the center lane drive.Nadeau-Fortin would shovel Wilson the puck and he made no mistakes finding the back of the net.
Holderness would storm back 10 seconds later to tie the game when Jack Hayes found himself on the back door uncovered to slam the puck past Bolding.Holderness's Connor Preston and Logan Clark would add a goal each in the second period to take a 4-2 lead into the dressing room for the second intermission.
Wilson would take over in the third period to lead the charge for Vermont's come back when he scored the third goala nd had an assist on the game tier.The third goal was made possible when Hayden Dalton '17 (Bakersfield, CA) kept the puck in and got it to Nadeau-Fortin whote ripped a slap shot on net for Wilson to deflect past Holderness's David Nicholson.Then 2:40 later Wilson would pick the pocket of the Holderness defenseman in the neutral zone and gain body position for Smith to zoom in and take off toward the Holderness net and deke Nicholson to his forehand to tie the game.
Both team would battle to the end of regulation but could not gain the upper hand to steal the game.The same would be said for the overtime period.With each team having a power play and chances to score the goaltenders came up big to savepoint in the standings for each team.
Vermont's Bolding would see 36 shots and make 32 saves while the tandem of Batman and Nicholson would do the same stopping 32 of 36 shots.
Vermont (4-7-2 overall, 0-4-1 Lakes Region) will head to Quebec this weekend for the Stanstead College Invitational.Their first game will be Friday, January 8 at 3:45 pm against Upper Canada College (Toronto, Ontario), followed by playing two games on Saturday against Rice Memorial Prep (Burlington, VT) and Ulysse School (Montreal, Quebec).
