Vermont Academy boys' hockey team traveled to Plymouth, NH for a Lakes region matchup this this evening.  Holderness used four different goal scorers for a balanced attack against the Wildcats at the brand new Holderness Arena.

Holderness started the scoring early in the game by scoring two goals just 13 seconds apart.  First Connor Preston scored at the 4:46 mark of the first period and Elliott McGuire scored at the 4:59 minute mark to take a 2-0 lead.  These two goals looked to be the spark Vermont would need to get off the bus.  Just 1:11 later in the period John Kondub '19 (Monroe, CT) scored on an assist from John Peloso '19 (Townshend, VT) for his first career goal at Vermont Academy.  Kondub's goal energized the group which allowed them to tie the game up before the end of the period.  On the power play, Max Mclaughlin '16 (Westmoreland, NH) found the back of the net.  McLaughlin's goal was assisted by Jack Raleigh '16 (Swanton, VT) and Mike Belliveau '17 (Madison, CT).

Holderness would add the go ahead and eventual game winner at the 11:11 mark of the second period when Shawn Morrs put the puck past Vermont's Josh Bolding '16 (Calgary, Alberta).  Holderness would take this 3-2 lead in to the intermission.

Holderness's Ryan Steel would add an empty net goal as insurance for their win.

Vermont (0-4-0 Overall, 0-3-0 Lakes Region) needed a spark but did not get the bounce they needed to pull closer to Holderness.  Bolding would make 46 saves on the 49 shots he faced.

The Wildcats will take on Worcester Academy at 5:30 pm tomorrow in their home opener at Choukas Arena.
