The Wildcats played one of their best game of the season on Friday night under the lights of Cushing Academy
The Wildcats played one of their best game of the season on Friday night under the lights of Cushing Academy. It was hard fought match by both teams. There were many chances on both ends of the field. It may have been a different story if not for some spectacular team defense and goalkeeping by Robbie Ferguson. The highlight of the first half came in the 35' minute when Rodrigo Rodriguez hustled down a chipped Cushing effort to clear it off the goal line.
The decisive moment of the match came in the 68' minute when Tyus Tummings blasted a shot in to the upper left hand corner from 35 yards out. The ambitious effort seemed to catch the keeper by surprise. It took great team focus to withstand the Cushing pressure for the remainder off the half. In the final minute of the game, Cushing had a corner kick and free kick to find the equalizer. Everyone was packed in the VA box including the opposing keeper. The Wildcats defense held strong to earn the win.
