VA Drops Battle of the 'Cats

The Wildcats played a tight game against Brewster Academy. VA opened the scoring in the 26' minute when Kofi Asante made a late run and smashed home an attempted clearance from the Brewster penalty area. Brewster quickly responded to equalize off a corner kick in the 30' minute. The game took a drastic turn when the Wildcats were issued a controversial red card just before halftime. Despite playing with 10 men, the Wildcats fought hard for the entire second half. Unfortunately, the man advantage was too much for the VA defense to handle as Brewster scored 3 second half goals. The Wildcats were able to score the goal of the game in the 88' minute. Lucas Calvo Fernandez delivered a beautiful curling free kick to the upper 90 of the Brewster net from 20 yards out. The Wildcats continue their Lakes Region play on Saturday, October 24th at Holderness School.
