Alumni Gather for Virtual Rowers & Friends Mini-Reunion
The Vermont Academy Alumni Association hosted a virtual mini-reunion with Vermont Academy rowers on April 30. Major topics discussed included the origins of the program, a brief overview of the current program, and an opportunity for attendees to share life updates.
In a prerecorded Q&A session, former Athletic Director Mike Atkins discussed how he helped start the program in 2010 with former Crew Coach Thom Collins, former CFO Sean Campbell, and former Head of School Sean Brennan. Mike also discussed how schools decide whether to implement new sports at prep schools. Assistant Crew Coach Russell Mayhew gave an overview of the current program - what boats were going out to practice, what the roster looked like today, and what races were upcoming. Finally, all attendees had the opportunity to provide an update on what they've been up to since graduation and/or since the last rowing mini-reunion in 2020.
It was great to connect with the group and we look forward to hosting another mini-reunion a few years down the line!
