6-2 Win in Last Regular Season Game of 2020

Vermont traveled to Wolfboro, New Hampshire to face off with Brewster Academy in their final regular-season game of 2020. Puck drop was at 4 p.m.

After the two and a half bus ride, it took the Wildcats a bit to get rolling, however when they did they scored three goals in the last four minutes of the first period. Walsh ’22 opened up the scoring off of a feed from Kaltounkova ’20 and Rogers ’20. Three minutes later Creamer ’21 added another on the power play from Walsh ’22. Citera ’21 added the last of the period with six seconds to go from Brooks ’23 and Bazin ’22.

The Bobcats controlled most of the second period scoring their two goals to cut the lead to one. However, Kaltounkova ’20 increased the Vermont lead again by scoring an unassisted goal on the power play off of a neutral zone faceoff with two minutes left. The Wildcats added to assurance goals in the third to solidify the win. The first goal was Citera ’21 from Creamer ’21 and the second Powers ’22 from Sujishi ’22 on the power play. This was Powers ’22 first Vermont Academy career goal. Segui ’21 made 18 saves in net for her tenth win of the season.

With the win at Brewster, the Wildcats secured the third-place spot in the Lakes Region Championship and will play at #2 St. Paul’s on Friday, February 28th. Puck drop is still TBA. Depending on Friday’s result the Wildcats will either face #1 New Hampton or #4 Kimball Union. Check our social media accounts (@va_hockey) for updates.
