SPS at Concord

On Wednesday December 5th the Boys Varsity Hockey team traveled up to Concord, New Hampshire
to compete against the St. Paul's School Pelicans. Our Wildcats were fresh off the Phillips-Exeter Showcase where they played two grueling games against the league's top team and defending champions Kimbell Union, and a tough Hebron team. During the Kimbell Union game, our Wildcats would kill nearly 7 penalties in a row competing in a 3-3 game until late in the third period, and would score the games opening goal against Hebron. Both very important lessons for our Wildcat team and points of emphasis to build off of entering this game against SPS. Our Wildcats would go scoreless in the first period and allow one goal against. However, the scoring would pick up with the Wildcats outscoring the Pelicans 2-1 in the second period with goals from Senior John Kondub #8 scoring his first of the year and Senior #15 Nick Rashkovksy continuing to add to his season scoring totals. St. Pauls School would open the scoring in the third period but a goal from Junior #9 Kevin Urquhart would bring the game closer. The VA Wildcats would go on to score again from Senior #15 Nick Rashkovsky (2nd of the game) on a 6 on 5 situation to tie the game at an even 4-4. St. Paul's School would score the games final game winning goal with less than two minutes to in the third period to end the game at 5-4. In speaking with St. Paul's School Head Coach Danny Murphy prior to the game start, he emphasized how important this year is for his. team to develop and come together as he pointed out they are a young team. The VA Wildcats hope to continue to build to their team development with this tough road loss and look to find success against Holderness who they will play in back-to-back games. The first of the two game series take place in Saxtons River, VT and the final game of the series on the road in Plymouth, New Hampshire at Holderness.
