Vermont Handles NYA 8-2

Kondub And Peloso Connect For 5 Goals In Win
Vermont Academy traveled to Yarmouth, ME for a non conference battle with North Yarmouth Academy at Travis Roy Arena Saturday evening.
 
Vermont (11-6-0 overall, 1-4-0 Lakes Region) despite the weather and injuries was able to come together to produce a road victory. Guy Piccolo '17 (Fairfield, CT0 was able to extend his unbeaten streak to five games and as sophomore John Kohn Kondub '19 (Monroe, CT) led the way with five points.
 
VA forward John Peloso '19 (Townshend, VT) provided two goals, one assist while Tanner Dalton '17 (Bakersfield, CA), Robbie Ferreira '18 (Salem, NH) and Mason Cipriano '19 (Wolcott, CT) each score one goal.
 
Vermont took the lead early in the first period on the power play when Peloso was fed a one timer from Jake Meikle '18 (Toronto, ONT) and he fired it in the back of the net past NYA goaltender, Xander Kostelnik. The period would finish with VA leading 1-0 on the score board with VA as a slight lead in shots 10-9.
 
Vermont controlled most of the play in the second period but could get on the score board until 6:10 remaining in the period when Dalton snipped from the slot under the crossbar with the assists going to Kondub and Hayden Dalton '17 (Bakersfield, CA). Vermont would strike again four minutes later when Kondub scored on a breakaway on a stretch pass from Karl-Antoine Girard. Vermont would take a 3-0 lead in to the second intermission.
 
Vermont burst out for five third-period goals on 23 shots. Ferreira's goal at 1:13 in to the period sparked the Wildcats, followed by Peloso goal 1:44 later and a trio of goals scored in 1:38 by Cipriano and 2 by Kondub.
 
NYA reeled closer throughout the third period as the hosts netted two goals in between the Vermont tallies. Andrew Ray started it for the Panthers at the 16:24 mark and Finn Murray scored five minutes later but that is all they could muster.
 
Vermont travels to Lakes Region rival KUA on Wednesday, January 11 for their second meeting of the season to complete their home and home schedule with conference members. Puck drop is 2:30 pm.
