Vermont Drops A Heartbreaker

Vermont Academy boys' hockey team hosted Academy St. Louis from Quebec today at Choukas Arena in an Associate Member NEPSAC battle.
The rink was cold, the ice was hard and the players were skating fast.  The game could have gone to either team but ASL came out on top with a 2-1 victory.

Vermont's Tyus Watson-Tummings '17 (Montreal, Quebec) started the scoring from a cycle play wit linemate Jack Raleigh '16 (Swanton, VT).  Raleigh would pass the puck to Watson-Tummings behind the net which created space for him to step out from behind the net to put the puck past ASL's goaltender Karl Szabo to take a 1-0 lead.  That is the way the period would finish.

The second period Vermont would start out on a four minute power play but could not find the back of the net.  ASL would kill off the power play and gain some momentum for themselves.  The would win the period 2-0 with goals coming from Tristan Vaillancourt-Gauthier and Tommy Cloutier.  The score at the end of the period was 2-1 in favor of ASL.

Vermont would do their best to mount a comeback in the third period but they could not solve Szabo and would fall short on the scoreboard.

Vermont would outshoot ASL 30-29 with Szabo grabbing the win over Henry Dennee '17 (Chandler, AZ).

Vermont (8-18-4 overall, 0-7-1 Lakes Region) hosts New Hampton School Wednesday, February 17 at Choukas Arena at 3:00 pm.
