Alumni on the Frontlines of the COVID-19 Pandemic: Dia Parker-McWhorter Riegler ’02, Educator

Quick update about your life after VA

My name is Dia Parker-McWhorter Riegler ‘02 and I joined Tom Oxholm '82 as the co-president of the Vermont Academy Alumni Association in 2019. I live in Boston and work as an educator in Boston Public Schools.

If you knew me during my time at Vermont Academy, I may seem like the least likely candidate to hold this position, given my penchant for incessantly bemoaning being stuck in the middle of Vermont with nothing to do. However, VA was a place where I was able to grow, academically, and emotionally, and safely start to cultivate the person that I wanted to be.

What is your official job/title?

As an educator, I am deeply committed to providing all students with an education that helps them achieve excellence while building character and helping them to be positive contributors to their communities.

How can VA alumni and the greater VA community help you and other healthcare professionals?

I support Vermont Academy because it is a truly special and majestic place where every student is given this opportunity.

My hope is that more VA alumni will re-engage with each other and Vermont Academy during this time and for years to come.
