Spring Sports & Afternoon Activities Awards 2025

On Tuesday, May 20, Vermont Academy hosted its annual Spring Sports and Activities Awards ceremony during the final formal meal of the year in the Shepardson Dining Center. The event celebrated the dedication, hard work, and achievements of students, coaches, and activity leaders. Each coach had the opportunity to highlight their awardees and team’s successes throughout the season.
Baseball
Most Improved Award – Aidan Garvey ’26
Coaches Award – Pat Connors ’26
Pi Beta Phi Award – Logan Sinacola ’25
This award is presented to the member of the varsity baseball team, who during the season has compiled the best batting average and fielding average.

Richard Burton Award – Lucas Sinacola ’25
This award is given to the junior or senior member of the varsity baseball team who has contributed most to the team.  

Equestrian
Most Improved Rider – Scarlett Bower ’28
Coaches Award – Carly Tendler ’25

Fly Fishing
Most Dedicated Angler – Yutong Liu ’26
Most Improved Angler – Duoyue “Daisy” Hu ’27
Coaches award – Andy Darcy ’25

Golf
Most Improved Player – Shane Romano ’25
Most Valuable Player – Leyton Riendeau ’27

Boys’ Lacrosse
Most Improved Player – Xander Robertson ’26
John Lord Most Valuable Player Award – Henry Adelson ’27
Robert Long Lacrosse Award – Kelly McMahon ’25
This award is given to a player whose selfless devotion to the team is reflected daily in all of his actions. Leading by example, this player's pride, leadership and consistency exemplify the unwavering respect for the game of lacrosse that Bob Long shared with all of his players during his 19 years of coaching at Vermont Academy.

Dorothy Sener Most Valuable Player Award – Mia Ryder ’26
Coaches Award – Taylor Gleeson ’25

Rock Climbing
The Iron Fist Award – Alejandro Gonzalez Bonet ’27
The Iron Fist Award is given to a member of the Rock Climbing team who, like Reinhold Messner, demonstrated sheer tenacity and dedication to his daily work on the wall and the crag, improving every day.

Rowing
Most Improved Rower – Ruby Besson ’25 and Suki Lambert ’25
Most Valuable Rower – Hazel Barreras ’25

Boys’ JV Tennis
Most Improved Player – Jacob Blair ’28

Girls’ JV Tennis
Most Improved Player – Evelyn “Evie” Meyer ’28

Boys’ Varsity Tennis
Most Improved Player – Nacho Blanco Paz ’26 and Nacho Ortiz Ferrando ’28 
Nathaniel Niles Award – Chris Eineberg ’25  
Nat Niles coached tennis at VA from 1945 to 1978, which is the longest continuous stretch that anyone has coached tennis at the Academy. This award given in his name recognizes the interest, dedication and positive influence that all leaders possess.

Girls’ Varsity Tennis
Most Improved Player – Coline Jung ’27
Most Valuable Player – Alexa Valderrama Ledezma ’25
Coaches Award – Gabriela Romero ’26

Track & Field
Most Improved Player – Bruna Bonilla ’28
