The girls’ varsity hockey team traveled for the second day in a row to play their second game of the season at Proctor Academy. Fortunately, Vermont Academy's Wildcats were able to shake their bus legs quickly to play against a very strong squad from Proctor Academy. The Wildcats put the first puck in the net against Proctor on a goal that was called back due to goaltender interference. The two teams remained tied at zero for almost the entire first period until Proctor put a goal on the scoreboard on a power play goal with 2:15 remaining in the first.
Vermont Academy got on the scoreboard with a beautiful give-and-go pass from Lotti Odnoga ’18 to Chloe Aurard ’17 only twenty-five seconds into the second period. Proctor responded quite quickly with a goal just a minute and a half later. To round out the scoring in the second period, VA’s Odnoga and Aurard connected once again but this time, Odnoga finished on the goal assisted by Aurard. Going into third tied at 2-2, Vermont Academy knew they had a long fifteen minutes to play. Unfortunately, Proctor was able to score in the first ten seconds of the third period. Although both teams had multiple scoring opportunities in the 3rd period, the score remained 3-2.
The Wildcats return to action on Wednesday with their home opener against Kingswood Oxford.
