Ten different skaters recorded at least one point for the Vermont Academy boys' hockey team on Saturday, helping the Cadets to a decisive 7-1 victory over visiting Keene High School at Choukas Arena.
Vermont improves to 6-2-0 overall and 1-2-0 in Lakes Region play. The Wildcats have scored seven plus goals three times this season, 10 vs Lawrenceville and 7 vs Brewster.
Junior forward Robbie Ferreira '18 (Salem, NH) scored three goals for Vermont, and Mike Belliveau '17 (Madison, CT) added three assists to post a team-leading three points of offense. Senior forward Ethan Wing '17 (Nantucket, MA) cashed in with two goals while senior Tyus Watson-Tummings '17 (Montreal, QUE) and John Peloso '19 (Townshend, VT) each registered a goal and an assist.
Strong performances came from junior Calvin Moise '18 (St. Eustache, QUE) and Jake Meikle '18 (Toronto, ONT) as each tallied two assists. Single tallies in the assist department went to Senior Tanner Dalton '17 (Bakersfield, CA), Nathan Smith '18 (Wildwood, MO), and Karl-Antoine Girard '18 (Sherbrooke, QUE).
Ferreira put his team on the scoreboard first, tallying his ninth goal of the year only 5:45 into regulation time. Vermont would go on a run of five unanswered goals to give themselves a nice cushion. Keene would get on the board in the third period when Connor Murphy slipped one past Vermont's goaltender Guy Piccolo '17 (Fairfield, CT).
Piccolo made 17 saves on 18 shots, earning his third victory of the season. Myles Ditkoff drew the loss for Keene, yielding seven goals on 38 shots faced.
The Wildcats hit the road Monday, December 12, traveling to Andover, NH for a 5:00 pm Lakes Region showdown with Proctor Academy.
