Vermont Academy boys' hockey team traveled to Kimball Union Academy on Wednesday afternoon for a Lakes Region Rivalry Game at KUA.
Vermont (11-7-0 overall, 1-5-0 Lakes region) struck first when Tyus Watson-Tummings '17 (Montreal, QUE) created a loose puck opportunity for Nathan Smith '18 (Wildwood, MO) int eh slot in front of KUA goaltender Sean Dynan and Smith rifled it inside the far post to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. Both teams would have scoring chances the rest of the period but both Dynan and Vermont's Guy Piccolo '17 (Fairfield, CT) closed the door of each shot.
KUA rallied from a 1-0 deficit to score twice in the middle of the second period to take a 2-1 lead. Dillon Munson scored of a deflection and Bryce Dolan took shot from the blue line that had eyes and found its way past Piccolo. The second period would end with KUA leading 2-1.
Vermont had a golden opportunity to tie the game and even take the lead back, but the Wildcats failed to score on a two-man advantage in the third period after Skidmore took two penalties.
Piccolo made 32 saves to take the loss, while Dynan made 19 for the KUA.
Vermont will head to Tilton on Saturday for another Lakes Region Conference matchup at 3:30 pm.
