The Girls’ Ice Hockey program has been a tradition at Vermont Academy since its inception in 1998. The girls compete in the New England Prep School League, as well as the Lakes Region Conference against some of the top teams in New England. Vermont Academy aims to prepare its student-athletes for the next level on and off the ice by developing its players in nearly every facet of life. Coaches and players work toward accomplishing goals together through skill development, strategizing, and off-ice training. Each year, the team plays a 20-plus game schedule with at least one supplemental tournament. As students of the game, members of the girls’ hockey program learn life lessons that they can take with them to the collegiate level and beyond.
Several players have also represented their respective countries (Czech Republic, France, and Hungary) in the IIHF U18 and U20 World Championships.
