Wildcats Open Season with Impressive Performance

The Wildcats opened the 2021-22 season with an impressive effort and 7-2 victory over host Proctor Academy. The Wildcats started fast and dominated Proctor in the first period, firing 27 shots at the Proctor goaltender, but could only light the lamp once, on a powerplay goal by Riley Walsh with just over a minute remaining in the first period.

The Wildcats stretched their lead to 3-1 in the second period with goals by Emma Laroche and Mazi Mazancova. For both palyers, it was their first goals as Wildcats. Goalie, Maika Paquin made several key saves in the period.

The Wildcats erupted for four goals in the third period to secure the victory. Summer Combe (first career goal), Danielle McCarthy, Julia Small, and Emma Laroche (2nd of the night) each found the net for the Wildcats.

The victory was a solid team effort with contributions from each player, including a 3 assist night and +4 rating from junior Liv Brooks. Emma Morel anchored the defense, playing significant minutes with a +3 rating, while freshmen defenseman Reese Combe was impressive in her first game as a Wildcat.

The team travels to Hoosac School on Wednesday.
