Vermont Academy Welcomes New Members into Cum Laude Society and National Honor Society

Vermont Academy recently celebrated academic excellence, leadership, and service during the induction ceremonies for the Cum Laude Society and the National Honor Society on May 14. Family members, faculty, and students gathered to recognize a distinguished group of Wildcats whose achievements reflect Vermont Academy’s commitment to scholarship, character, and community engagement.
The Cum Laude Society is one of the highest academic honors a secondary school student can receive. Founded in 1906, the society recognizes students who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, intellectual curiosity, and dedication to learning. Often considered the high school equivalent of Phi Beta Kappa, Cum Laude membership reflects consistent excellence across a student’s academic career.

This year’s Vermont Academy Cum Laude Society inductees are Eli Boxer ’26, Maya Carbone '27, Eric Chen '27, Carley Guarino '26, Hannah Nuwagaba '26, Blake Postles ’26, Elizabeth Thompson ’27. They join previously inducted members Aloycia Deogratias ’26, Asper Donath ’26, and Oliver Norkun ’26.

Students inducted into the National Honor Society were also recognized for their accomplishments both inside and outside the classroom. The National Honor Society honors students who exemplify the four pillars of the organization: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Membership reflects a student’s commitment not only to academic success, but also to positively contributing to the school and broader community.
