What a year for the VAMS Alpine program and our athletes!
Our team was amazing. The smiles, talent, improvement, and engagement were awesome. To be honest, all our VAMS Alpine athletes are winners and will go far in life as they mature and develop into adults. As we always say, we focus on the effort and follow a process. The effort this season was great, and we truly believe we have a good process in place to develop young athletes, preparing them to perform at the races and, more importantly, in life.
The focus of our alpine racing program is on the process and skill-building. We could not be more proud of the achievements earned by all our athletes. These wins, podiums, and top ten finishes represented many of the alpine skiers on our team! VAMS athletes won an impressive 16 races across all age groups and disciplines. This led to VAMS securing an incredible 33 podiums and 109 of top ten finishes across all of our races, which was a fantastic result!
Our program emphasizes teamwork and support for each of the athletes. We had tremendous teamwork, fostering an environment of support and growth for all athletes from the U12s to our FIS-level skiers.
Our Alpine athletes were all supported by an amazing staff this past year. Our coaches made our time on the mountain, at races, and in the club some of the best times ever. Their commitment to the program, the athletes, family, and the sport of ski racing is second to none. Thank you all for being there with me and making our alpine team environment professional, fun, and motivational for all. All our coaches, Brian, Stephen, Shenna, Tyler Hunter, Yoav, Bob, Zoey, and John, all contributed to a very successful year for our incredible alpine team.
The highlight of the year was the Vermont Academy Alpine team winning the NEPSAC Class C championships for the second year in a row! All members of the team were either first team all-NEPSAC skiers or second team. And our team placed third at the Lake Region Championships. We are so proud of their accomplishments!
