Vermont Lets One Slip To Governors

Kondub nets his first goal of the seaosn but it wasn't enough.
The Vermont Academy boys' hockey team played Governors Academy in their Saturday afternoon contest for their third and final game of the Barber tournament at St. Mark's School.
 
Vermont would jump out to a 1-0 lead in the first period for the second game today. Robbie Ferreira '18 (Salem, NH) stepped out of the penalty box to find John Peloso '19 (Townshend, VT) hitting his tape with a three quarter ice pass that sent Ferreira in on the Govs goaltender Sam Best where he made no mistake to find the back of the net. Govs would even the score at one when Brett Moccia scored with 4:08 left in the period.
 
Govs and Vermont would trade goals again in the second. Govs Toa Ishizuka scored an unassisted goal at 14:06 to take a 2-1 lead. John Kondub '19 (Monroe, CT) would knot the score at two five minutes later when he drove the front of the net and one times a pass from Calvin Moise '18 (St. Eustache, QUE).
 
Govs would score midway through the third period to take the lead 3-2 when William Blomstrom flipped a backhand past Brandon McDonald '18 (Santa Clarita, CA). This goal would prove to be the game winner but not without a finght from the VA boys.
 
McDonald made 13 saves on 16 shots but Best stole the show keeping his team in the game by making 30 saves on 32 shots.
 
Vermont will be in action after Christmas at Tilton School for their New Year's showcase on December 30 - 31. First game for the Wildcats will be Wyoming Seminary.
