    2026 - 2027
    Head Coach: Gwenn Curtis

Fall Rowing at Vermont Academy is designed to meet every rower and coxswain where they are, providing individualized instruction that helps each athlete grow throughout the season. Because many students are new to rowing when they arrive at VA, the fall is an ideal time to learn the fundamentals, develop sound technique, and discover a new passion. For athletes with previous experience, the focus shifts to refining technique, increasing efficiency, and building on existing skills.

Regardless of experience level, our program emphasizes the development of the whole athlete. We strive to build healthy bodies, resilient minds, and a strong sense of teamwork, teaching athletes to trust and support their boatmates while working toward shared goals.

While external competition is not the primary focus of the fall season, interested athletes may have opportunities to compete in head races throughout New England and New York. Ultimately, Fall Rowing is about pursuing healthy excellence, embracing personal growth, and becoming who you are both on and off the water.

Our rowers have matriculated to some of the top universities in the nation including University of Washington, Fordham University, Merrimack College, and more.
