Student Life

Clubs & Leadership

At Vermont Academy there are so many opportunities for students to express their interests, find their passions, and expand their skills by becoming leaders on campus. Students may also start new clubs---we're a community with varied interests and talents. It's one of the things that make Vermont Academy a fun place to be.

Student Leaders

There are any number of ways students can lead on the Vermont Academy campus. As a small, community-centered campus, we all have to step up and take leadership roles sometimes. Some choose to lead in hands-on activities like planning Earth Day clean-up or acting as part of a ten-person Chinese dragon at Lunar New Year. Some others choose more traditional leadership roles like those of Class President or Proctor or maybe joining the Academy's Honor Council.

There is always an opportunity to step outside the lines and create something entirely new. Recent VA student-driven initiatives have included the installation of a wind turbine on campus and the implementation of a campus-wide composing project. The sky's the limit! Here are just a few leadership ideas:
  • Make sushi or miso soup for dinner with a few of your friends from the International Students club
  • Act as a tour guide and student host for prospective students touring the school
  • Mentor a freshman student or tutor one of your peers in the Writing Center
  • Participate as part of the VA team at a Model UN competition
  • Represent your fellow students as a member of the Vermont Academy Student Association
  • Lead your team in Winter Carnival activities
  • Start a club of your own!
