A Successful Baseball Season!

by Coach Russ Williams
The 2022 Boys’ Varsity Baseball Team started on a mission last fall that they wanted to win the Lakes Region Championship. The team worked hard over the winter with pitchers getting their arms ready, and the rest of the team hitting off the tee in the back room. That mission was completed when we traveled to # 1 seed St. Paul's on May 20 and came home with a 6-3 win in 8 innings to capture the Lakes Region Championship. The team finished with a 13 - 2 record.
The pitching staff was led by Dylan McCarthy ‘23 who started in 8 games, only allowing 12 runs, 6 earned, 73 strikeouts in 38.1 innings pitched with a 5 - 1 record. Rex Hill ’22 started in 5 games and pitched 37.2 innings with a 4 - 1 record. Cam Boardman ‘22 started in 2 games and pitched in relief for 21 innings with a 4 - 0 record.

On the offense side, we were led by Jack Pattison ‘23 (18 - 34) .529 avg, 10 doubles, 12 walks, hit 15 times, 24 runs scored, and 16 RBI. Cam was our lead-off hitter (20 - 51) .392 avg. 1 of 4 home runs hit by the team, 11 walks, 20 runs scored, and 10 RBI. Hunter DeMarco ‘22 (12 - 39) .308 avg, 19 runs scored and 23 RBI. Dylan (12 - 41) 1 home run, 10 runs scored and 18 RBI. Sam Boxer ‘23 (13 - 48) .271 avg had 10 RBI. Rex Hill ‘22 was hit 16 times and scored 17 runs hitting second in the order.

Highlights include: beating the other black and orange Wildcats Kimball Union Academy (KUA) twice, throwing a no-hitter against Brewster Academy, a walk-off home run win against Proctor Academy in the bottom of the 7th inning, sweeping a doubleheader from the New Hampton school, beating the Tilton School twice (once in the play-offs), and becoming the 2022 Lakes Region Champions by defeating St. Paul's School.

As we say goodbye to ‘22 graduates Cam Boardman, Rex Hill, Hunter DeMarco, Ty Higgins, and Jake Burgess, we have big shoes to fill for the 2023 season.
