Vermont Wins Lakes Region Game

Vermont Academy faced off with Proctor Academy on Wednesday afternoon at Choukas Arena. 

The Wildcats came out strong scoring three goals in the first frame. (1) Kaltounkova ’20 from Citera ’21 and Sujishi ’22 (2) D. McCarthy ’22 from Walsh ’22 (3) Fortier ’21 from Wood ’20 and Small ’23. The Hornets were able to capitalize on their power play cutting their lead to two heading into intermission. 

Citera ’21 scored her first goal of the season five minutes into the second period off of a feed from Fortier ’21 and Keller ’20. The rest of the period was scoreless with the Proctor goalie facing 18 shots. In the third period, Kaltounkova ’20 added a pair of goals to complete the hat trick and increase her point total to 205 on her career. Assists came from Walsh ’22 and K. McCarthy ’21. 

Paquin made 21 saves in net for the Wildcats, and D. McCarthy ’22 was named player of the game for her kill of the 5-3 in the first period. Vermont travels south to Northfield Mount Hermon on Saturday for a 4:30 p.m. battle of 91.
