Wildcats open season with close loss to good NYA team
It was the official home opener for the Wildcats as they faced off against NYA. Mason Kucenski got the start in net for the Wildcats.
NYA came out fast and put the pressure on the Wildcats right from the drop of the puck. NYA was able to capitalize and take a 2-0 lead after 1. The Wildcats came out in the second period and played a much better period, creating some great scoring chances but were unable to capitalize on them. NYA snuck one past Kucenski to take a 3-0 after 2 periods. The Wildcats saved their best period for the 3rd as they really brought the pressure to NYA. JAck Luzzi '20 and Jeff Simon '20 potted goals to make it a 3-2 game. The Wildcats pulled their goalie late in the 3rd but were unable to get the equalizer.
Mason Kucenski was superb in net, stopping 53 of 56 shots.
