First official race fo the season at Proctor Academy

Unusually warm weather melted practically all-natural snow, but man-made course at Proctor Academy allowed Nordic skiers from all over New England to compete at the first official race of the season.
The race format of a mass start and over 180 skiers from 11 schools were to complete four loops of 1.3 km of a relatively hilly course.
In the boys' race, top four scoring  VA skier to cross the finish line were Trevor Palmiotto, finishing in 21st place. Patrick Wu finished in 37th place. Huxley Holcombe completed his first-ever classical race in 41st position and Jerry Lin finished in 60th place. These results put our boys in 8th overall team place for the race. Non-scoring team members were: Jason Wang 67th place, Peter Zhao 81st, Edward Ahn 86th, Gary Zhu 89th. For Huxley, Peter and Gary it was the first time to compete 5km race, and they did a great job demonstrating consistent technique and strong athletic character.

The second race of the season, team sprints at Dublin School, will be next Wednesday, January 22
