Why did you choose Colby College?

I toured a bunch of different colleges and I enjoyed all of the tours. However, when I arrived at Colby College I got that feeling. I felt that I belonged there right away, and I completely fell in love with the campus, the people, and the location. Colby is just a bigger Vermont Academy, which is one of the main reasons I felt so comfortable there. Colby also has great academics and a pretty strong hockey team which were two of the main aspects I was looking for.

What's it like to be a student-athlete at Vermont Academy?

Being a student-athlete at Vermont Academy is great; I have had the opportunity to try new sports and make new friends in each sport. On the other hand, playing a sport each trimester is a big commitment, thus it is necessary to learn how to manage your time properly.

Who would you like to thank for supporting you up to this point?

First, I would like to thank my family for all the support and love they have given me in every step of the way because without them I would never be where I am now. I would also like to thank all of my coaches: Coach Ardito, Coach Poole, and Coach Marshall who have been helping me with this process and giving me a lot of life advice. I also want to thank all of my friends and my teammates and people who believe in me because that means a lot.

What have you learned at VA that you will apply at the next level?

I have learned how to manage my time properly and not to be scared to ask for help, which I will definitely apply at the next level. I also learned to appreciate every day I get to spend with my friends and Vermont Academy’s community because high school flies by and I know that I will miss it.

What does Vermont Academy mean to you?

Vermont Academy means a lot to me. Over the past three years, I have not only grown as a hockey player but also as a person. I have gotten to know so many great people who have become my lifelong friends and role models. I am so glad that I can be a part of this great community we have at VA. I hope that I will be able to come back here in a few years to see how VA has changed since I left.

What does this opportunity represent for you and your family?

The opportunity to apply to Colby College represents all the hard work and all the hours that my parents spent driving me and watching me play hockey; it pays back all of us. It also shows that dreams can come true. For me having this opportunity makes me work even harder to get ready for college and play hockey there. I am very excited to attend Colby next fall!
